  2. Tom "Rosie" Rosenwald, dad's classmate and crewmate at Dartmouth wanted me to post this on his behalf, after contributing the picture above:

"On a personal note Dutch will always be remembered as a dear friend and classmate who rowed #6 on the Dartmouth Heavyweight crew which is part of the engine room that makes the boat go. He will be sorely missed.
    Rosie
    Cox"

Note: Rosie was the coxswain, the only guy in the boat facing the right direction, keeping time and course and egging them on to the finish line.

  3. Tori Staley posted her pie pic (above) in this post to Facebook, shortly after Dutch's passing:

"my grandpa died this past week. Four years ago, when my uncle insisted I help my grandpa Dutch teach me to make his famous Christmas pie, I was pretty grumpy; that was Grandpa's job! But my uncle knew that Grandpas mind was going and insisted and so together we half remembered his pie skills enough to pass the pie torch on. This Christmas, I thought of his laugh, his red Christmas vest that got tighter to button every year, as I baked this pie. Next Christmas, I'll have to make this pie with no Grandpa Dutch in the world. I hate that. I hate that I won't see his scruffy eyebrows or weather his history trivia questions or feel one of his bear hugs. But at least I'll remember his pie recipe. Miss you Grampa."
